Calisthenics is bodyweight resistance training that uses whole-body movement and skill, usually without equipment. Pushing, pulling, squatting, jumping, hanging, balancing. It's how I train a significant portion of my upper body and it's one of my favourite forms of exercise.
I love it because it builds genuine functional strength, requires minimal equipment, can be done anywhere and produces real results regardless of your experience level.
The most challenging part of starting calisthenics is knowing where to begin. Here are just some of the resources I genuinely recommend.
Daniel Vadnal is a calisthenics expert and physiotherapist. His down-to-earth approach and depth of knowledge are exceptional. Hundreds of videos covering calisthenics tutorials, body part-specific workouts, strength progressions, mobility, injury prevention and motivation.
Sven Kohl (a physical therapist) and Alex Lorenz (a calisthenics and parkour specialist with a sports science background) bring a genuinely well-rounded approach. Over 200 free video tutorials on improving calisthenics skill and strength. They also offer paid programmes through their website.

No giving up the life you love. Just a way of eating and living that genuinely feels good and gets better every year. Want to know more about my story and approach? Read my full About Me page → |
